1)  The Florida Department of Transportation has one of the most experienced and prepared procurement programs in the U.S., meaning that we will be able to put people to work faster than any other state.

2)  It is beyond doubt that Florida will be able to mobilize and build High Speed rail faster than any other project in the nation.

3)  Major construction firms are ready, willing and anxious to bid to build the Tampa-Orlando line.  Capital cost estimates provided by FDOT appear reasonable and a significant amount of competition is likely.

4)  All major high speed rail manufacturers attended and all are interested in bidding on the project, again ensuring strong competition and strong bids.

5)  The pending state rail legislation is viewed very favorably by builders and operators and, in the event that it passes, will provide added confidence and interest in the Florida process.

It won't die because it's a great step forward for the future of Florida. I can't imagine why the number one tourist destination in the world would not want efficient, green, high spped rail. It will brings jobs now and bring tourists later. This is a win win with endless benefits for our state.

The voters drove a stake through the heart of this beast in 2004, why won't it die?

I think this is a wonderful idea, and I am for it, so long as the new rail system only uses clean (non fossil fuel) energy. Otherwise, I am against it.
